For many people as fall approaches we often think about getting new binders or pencils. But as the digital age has changed we are now more reliant on the use of our various gadgets for homeschool. As an online student you need to be prepared and keep your information secure. Here is some advice to make sure you are ready for school.
1) Make sure all your hardware is backed up
2) Update your devices
3) Have a great virus protector
4) Check for malware
5) Decide if you want to go with Windows 10
6) Set up a Google Drive Account
Creating a backup on any system is easy for instructions it would be best to do a Google search. If you use a PC you can create a restore point this needs to be done periodically but can solve many of your issues. Creating a backup gives you a way to have your files protected on CD that could be useful in case something happens to your device.
Malware is an increasing common problem on computers and some phones. Essentially it is a program that can harm your computer through slowing systems, crashing, or someone taking your personal information. This can be done through visiting websites that are not secure or seem a bit fishy. Use your own judgement when surfing the web. More information here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware
Windows 10 was a recent upgrade that has been offered to some people that have Window 8.1 or Windows 7. This is a free upgrade. It is understandable for those that may want to avoid the hassle and potential to pay for other upgrades. If you have an older computer and everything seems to be working then it might be advisable to keep what you currently have as a system or if you have a school laptop. Windows 10 can work on most systems and can be a benefit because of the speed and reliability of the new program.
