Back to School preparation for California State Testing
(Provided by CalPac, Saturday, October 06, 2012)
Even though California Pacific Charter School is an online school, we are still a public school and are therefore required to adhere to the same statewide testing programs as all other California schools. This means that though you may attend all of your classes virtually there are certain times of the year, when you will be required to come to a designated testing location to take one or more state assessments. It is very important that you take the time to look on the “state and school testing” area of the CALPAC website to locate the assessment calendar and record the testing days that apply to you on your own calendar. The earlier you do this, the better, as this will help to ensure that you don’t make any other appointments or travel plans on these very important days. Attendance at State Testing is a vital part of the existence of our school and therefore it is important that all students attend.
Now is also the time to start “preparing” for these tests. This means paying attention to your online coursework, making sure you are studying and preparing for your online quizzes and tests and attending your live sessions. Everything your teachers are teaching you is meant to prepare you for the state assessments. You can also begin attending our weekly CAHSEE live sessions in English and Math now so that you will be prepared for the test when it comes time for you to take it. If you have already attempted to take the CAHSEE and have not yet passed it, you are also a perfect candidate to attend the virtual CAHSEE live sessions.
State testing is not meant to be difficult. It is simply meant to be a review of everything you are already learning in your online courses. CALPAC uses the information gained from the results of student testing as an indication of how well our school is doing and to find areas to make improvements in our own teaching methods. We want to continually provide your child with the best education possible. Also, remember that your assessment coordinator is available to help you. If you have any questions about testing please be sure to reach out and ask.
