Finish Your Homework! 4 Easy Tips from CALPAC

It can be hard coming to a new school in the middle of the year. The following are my pointers on how to systematically and successfully complete your work.

1) Set out 5-8 hours of dedicated time to work on your school work. My suggestion is to work at least 3 hours (if not more) at a time.  Here is a sample schedule.

   - School Work 9:30-12:30
   - Break: 12:30-1:30
   - School 1:30-4:30
   - Fun Activity 4:30-7:00
   - School work 7:00-9:00

Remember that most students who attend a brick and mortar school go to school for 7 hours a day and then come home to complete 2-4 hours of homework.

2) Take good notes as you work in your classes.  Slow down to think of what you are learning as you are learning it.  Don't hesitate to rewind and think through your direct instruction.

The more notes you take and the more mental summaries you make as you learn the easier it is to remember key things.

3) Analyze your work especially during practice.  Try to understand both the things you answered correctly and the things you got wrong.  Learn from mistakes.

4) Reach out to your teachers for tutoring and try to get help early.  Your teachers are here to help you!  I cannot tell you how many times students rave about how responsive and helpful CalPac teachers are.  Take advantage of that.
