Five Reasons to Join a Club at CalPac

(Provided by CalPac, Monday, January 30, 2017)

We know you’re busy. Between school, homework, sports and activities, work, and family commitments, you might feel like you don’t have much time for anything else. Joining a club doesn’t have to feel like an obligation. If you find something you’re passionate about, and can spend some of your free hours doing it, you’ll see that committing a few extra hours a month to Cooking Club (for example) will seem less like a have to and more like a want to.

Need more convincing? We’ve come up with five reasons why joining a club at CalPac is a great idea…

1. Learn more about yourself. Being part of a community of like-minded students and teachers will be a huge opportunity to learn more about    yourself. You might find you’re passionate about something new, meet new people, and more than likely identify a few key attributes you didn’t know were your “strengths.”

2. Develop or enhance leadership skills. Becoming a club leader will develop leadership skills that will serve you far beyond your time at CalPac. Developing these skills will provide beneficial as you graduate high school and look to your next step academically or career-wise.

3. Take a break. Focusing on schoolwork is a critical part of succeeding as a student but giving your brain a break is a good idea, too! While attending and participating in club meetings and activities, you’ll have the chance to socialize with classmates and build new friendships while learning from them.

4. Enhance your resume or college applications. Being involved in extracurricular activitieslooks great on your resume or college applications. Sharing your interests being part of a club will give those considering you for school, a professional program, or a job, an idea of who you are as a person, not just a student.

5. You’ll have fun! You like cooking, right? You enjoy learning about fashion or video games or new music? What are you waiting for? Connecting with new people, making new friends, and participating in activities will help you make the most of your middle or high school experience.
