Getting to Know Ms. Jennifer Adams

(Provided by CalPac, Tuesday, January 31, 2017)

Ms. Jennifer Adams studied Psychology at UC Santa Barbara and also received an Educational Specialist teaching credential from UCSB. After graduate school, she moved to Bhutan, a small country in the Himalayas. There, she taught 5th and 6th grade English and helped to start a non-profit for students with disabilities.

When she returned to California she taught Special Education at a middle school and later at an elementary school. Ms. Adams was born and raised in San Diego, which is also where she resides today. She chose to teach Special Education because she enjoys teaching a wide variety of subjects, and she especially loves helping students develop life skills.

Her hobbies include surfing, hiking, traveling, and trying new restaurants. She is not married but she has loves spending time with her family! Her parents live a few miles away and her sisters live in Nevada and Texas.  Her mother helps raise service dogs and she loves puppy sitting whenever she gets the chance.

The main advice she would give to students who are just entering into online learning is the following: “Try to maintain a growth mindset. If you stick with it, the technology will get easier over time.”

So far she loves CalPac and thinks all of the students and teachers are wonderful. Everyone is helpful and enthusiastic about supporting each other!
