Connecting and Creating in Crafting Club
As we head into fall and the online school year gets underway, it is important to set yourself up for opportunities to connect with other students and teachers and nurture your creativity. What better way to do that than joining one of CalPac’s fabulous clubs? Crafting club offers the opportunity to gather with fellow students, connect about what you love to create, and then go do it!

Connecting with Other Students
Being part of the online learning environment, we know that it puts an extra barrier up to connecting with other students and teachers and can leave us feeling disconnected. By taking the time to gather together and discuss and share our favorite crafts and new ideas and suggestions, it gives us the opportunity to get to know a small group of students better and connect with them about something we all enjoy. You can then share these ideas with family and friends and watch the connecting and fun multiply exponentially (the math teacher in me couldn’t resist tossing in a few math words J).

Create Using Hands-On Activities
Since all of your courses are completed online, there are not a lot of opportunities for hands-on activities. No matter what your age, stopping and taking coloring breaks can be a great way to relieve stress, feel better, and help your creative juices flow. During our meetings, we’ll brainstorm crafts that you can easily complete at home, with links to instructions and materials needed.

October Crafting Projects
With October fast approaching, here is a favorite crafting project of mine with Halloween in mind:

Lollipop Ghosts

Materials Needed:
-       Lollipops (I always use Tootsie Pops, but pick your favorite!)
-       Tissues (2 for each ghost)
-       Black Felt Tip Marker
-       Ribbon

Directions:
-       Layer the 2 tissues, one rotated slightly on top of the other
-       Cut a piece of ribbon, about 6 in. long
-       Place the lollipop in the center of the tissues
-       Wrap the tissues around the lollipop
-       Tie the ribbon around the base of the lollipop
-       Draw a face on the tissue and enjoy!
