Welcome to California Pacific Charters Schools 2.0! Many of you have noticed some changes within the course this year. There are some great new tools for you to use in your virtual classroom that can help you stay on task and pass your classes in this distance learning environment.
When you enter your classes, you will notice two bar graphs next to your online course list. These graphs are great tools for monitoring your progress in your online classes. The top bar shows you how much of the course you have completed to date. If this bar is green or blue, you are on pace or ahead of target to successfully finish the course on time. You want to make sure that you keep your bar out of the red zone because that means that you are behind and need to get caught up. As you progress in the course, those squares will start to fill in with colors to show you how much of the course you have left to complete. By the end of the semester, you will have a nice full graph! Remember, blue is best!
The second graph shows you your grade progress. This graph is also color-coded based on your grade percentage. Here are what the colors mean: Dark green=A; Light green = B; Golden yellow=C; Orange=D; Red= F. If you see a square that is partial colored, that means you are between steps. For example, if you have an 88%, you would have 8 boxes completely colored in light green and 1 box partially colored in with light green. This gives you a great idea of how close you are to the next step and color. You can tell at a glance how you are doing in each class. Remember, the more boxes that are filled in, the better. Aim for all dark green boxes!
Above the second graph, you may have noticed some numbers. These are really important numbers for you to pay attention to when monitoring your progress in your virtual classroom. The percentage on the left is your grade for the work you have completed. This is known as your overall grade. The second number on the right, known as your actual grade, shows you what your grade would be if the class ended tomorrow. In other words, this is the grade that includes zeros for any assignments that have already been assigned that you have not completed. This number is super important because if you are behind pace, it will be much lower than your overall grade. Ideally, you want the two numbers to be the same because that means you are on pace!
Remember, blue and green are best in all cases! There are lots of great tools to help you be successful in your virtual high school so make sure you are utilizing these awesome features.
