No More Eye Strain - Tips for Online School Success

We are living in an era in which technology is at our fingertips. We spend more time online and staring at the computer for school, work and leisure than ever before.

Being students of a virtual school, it is unavoidable that you will be staring at the computer screen for a long period of time.  Your eyes are probably getting dried by constant exposure to the monitor. Eye strains and fatigue are not conducive to school learning. Below are some tips to help protect your eyes from straining.

Some of the best tips to prevent digital eye strain include the 20/20/20 rule. For every 20 minutes of doing schoolwork on the computer, students should take a 20 second break away from the computer by staring at an object 20 feet away.

When you are on the break, you could also close your eyes for few seconds, which will help to clean and ease your eyes.  Afterward move your eyes to your right end and then slowly move it to the center and then to the left. These simple eye exercises will relax your eye muscles.

If possible, please stand up from your chair and walk around for a minute and come back to the computer as well. This will ensure that you are not straining your back due to sitting in one place for too long. If you are in a middle of a quiz or a test and cannot leave the computer, then at the minimum, move your body to the left and right while sitting in the chair and holding at your chair handle.

At CALPAC we want students to be successful academically and maintaining great health is one key component to doing well in school!
