At California Pacific Charter you will work closely with one of our highly qualified counselors who will make sure you get all the credits you need for graduation.

Along with your required “core” classes like English and Math you will also get to choose some Electives classes to take online.  Electives courses count toward graduation and are required classes but there are a variety of Electives classes that you get to choose from.

One of these Electives course options is a great class called Strategies for Academic Success.

Strategies for Academic Success is a fun class that equips students with a collection of study techniques and tools to ensure success in their academics.  Students glean practical study skills that they can apply to all their classes everyday for increased efficiency in learning and higher achievement.

A few of these “tools” include:

1. Mnemonic devices (like acronyms and acrostics) that aide in memorization.

2. Graphic organizers like the “Venn Diagram”.

3. How to take good notes and utilize a Topic Outline.

4. Test-taking strategies.

5. Increasing reading speed and comprehension.

One of my favorite units of study concentrates on motivation and how our students can grow from extrinsically motivated to intrinsically motivated– a defining transition in student growth and maturation!
